I've never officially made New Years resolutions before, but I tend to like setting myself up with arbitrary deadlines and obligations, so why on earth not? So this year, I intend to sketch. Every. Single. Day. No matter how small, I can't replace the feeling that I get when I consistently draw every day. I was doing pretty well at that for part of 2012, and I just discovered the other day that I accumulated a respectable stack of drawings. Oh 2012, you were at long last a good drawing year. I want 2013 to be better.
Something I'd like to try this year is to work with other artists more. Do you know I've never done an art trade? Or a collaboration? So if you're a artist with a similar skill level I'd love to chat. ^_^
My head's been bobbling around in story land much more than around art this winter break. Not only did I get around to watching an incredible show (Specifically Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Just a forewarning, I won't be able to resist the urge to do fanart for very much longer.) but in the past year I've determined to pursue a writing career. Now if only I was good at making fully presentable products. xD So I'll be working on that sort of thing, too. Fanwork has been good practice, and I'll keep that up for the time being, but I'm also still focused on my someday-to-be webcomic, The Well.
Being a fan of a good story is an incredible experience... but it's also incredible to create something and interact with people who enjoy it. Honestly, doing extra stuff to enhance the fan experience is one of things I look forward to most as a creator. Self, hurry up and make stories you can show people. ;_;
Of course, art and story depend on how my life in general is going. Either this year will be crazy hectic or it will only be half hectic and much simpler the rest of the time. Either way, it's going to be really different, because I'm graduating! I'm really looking forward to getting a day job or doing an internship. We shall see, we shall see.
In short, it's time to sketch.
