Tokka Month 2012: Legend by Maivry Tokka Month 2012: Legend by Maivry
I've made it through three weeks of Tokka Month! Not much longer to go.

One of my first Tokka pieces was "in the style" of Oma and Shu's story. Back when the only thing sumi-e meant to me was a Photoshop filter and traditional painting was way outside the realm of possibility. So I made a really terrible attempt to replicate the style digitally. Then I went to college, got to explore different mediums and ended up falling in love with sumi to the point that I took a special class on it.

So, it's not surprising that I took this opportunity to give this style and story a real effort.

I don't ship Tokka, but this sumi-e is beautiful.

Thank you! Haha, no, that wasn't intentional. It's just a pointless hand pose.

I definitely like the similar style it has to Oma and Shu's story. I knew right away who the two figures were without even reading the title. It has a lovely water color feeling. Beautiful and powerful. ♥
